Evansville is a city in the the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Indiana, the third-largest city in Indiana after Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. Evansville is also home to both the University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana. In 2004 Evansville was named an "All-America City" by the National Civic League. In 2008 it was voted the best city in the country in which "to live, work, and play" by the readers of Kiplinger, and in 2009 the 11th best.
